Buying a Cadillac GM General 1451879 engine oil filler pipe/fuel pump comes with both advantages and disadvantages. Here are some potential pros and cons:
Pros:1. OEM Part: This part is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) part, which means it is manufactured by the same company that originally made it for the car. This ensures a perfect fit and compatibility with the vehicle.
2. High Quality: OEM parts are generally of high quality and are designed to last longer than aftermarket parts.
3. Warranty: OEM parts often come with a warranty from the manufacturer, providing peace of mind to the customer.
Cons:1. Cost: OEM parts tend to be more expensive than aftermarket parts due to their high quality and brand reputation.
2. Availability: OEM parts may not be as readily available as aftermarket parts, especially if the vehicle is older or less common.
3. Longer Wait Time: Since OEM parts may need to be ordered from the manufacturer, there can be a longer wait time for the customer compared to aftermarket parts that can be purchased locally or online.
In conclusion, buying a Cadillac GM General 1451879 engine oil filler pipe/fuel pump as an OEM part has its advantages, such as perfect fit, high quality, and potentially a warranty. However, it also comes with disadvantages, such as higher cost, limited availability, and longer wait time. Ultimately, the decision to buy an OEM part depends on the customer's priorities, budget, and time constraints. If the customer values the peace of mind that comes with an OEM part and is willing to pay the premium price and wait for the part to be delivered, then buying an OEM part may be the best option. However, if the customer is on a tight budget or needs the part quickly, then an aftermarket part may be a more practical choice.
On at least the 1949 and possibly 1950 cars, it looks like oil filler/engine breather cap inserts directly onto cast iron filler neck instead of into a steel base that sits inside. Some areas still have the original dark blue Cadillac engine paint. Spots of light corrosion and dried oil inside. 1949 and possibly 1950 Cadillac cast iron engine oil filler pipe fuel pump support or stand: Casting no.
Collar of filler neck is machined and unpainted. Theres also a 3 cast next to fuel pump mounting area, but I don't know if that has any significance. And it also looks like the 1951 and up Cadillac's use a different oil filler cap/engine breather assembly that's reason why end of neck is. Please see my other listings for Cadillac parts and more.
Fuel pump mounting threads look to be in good condition. I don't have a parts manual for these cars to check conclusively. Condition: Used part, but in very good condition; pretty clean too.
